Zahedi, also spelled Zahidi, is the light date in the Iranian range. The fruit is oval, golden to pale caramel, and firmer than Mazafati. It is not black and it is not a soft Bam date.
Importers choose it for markets that want a semi-dry date with a clean bite and a long shelf life relative to soft grades. Sevin Nakhl quotes it in bulk and in retail packs. The photograph is one Zahedi fruit, so the color is easy to judge.
