Rabbi is a semi-dry date associated with Iranshahr and Saravan in Sistan and Baluchestan. The fruit is long rather than plump, dark mahogany to near black, and the skin wrinkles as it dries. It is not a soft, glossy date.
Buyers use it where a firmer date keeps its shape in transit and on the shelf. Sevin Nakhl offers it in bulk cartons and in smaller packs. Moisture and size are confirmed on the quote, because those two points decide whether the lot matches the market.
Do not confuse Rabbi with Mazafati. Mazafati is softer, fleshier and shines. Rabbi holds a drier line.
